EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Karanga Leather Industries Company Co. Ltd (KLICL) is established as a joint venture company limited between Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) and
Tanzania Prisons Service through its company known as Prisons Corporation Sole to undertake development and operate leather Industries in Karanga Area, Moshi
Municipality.

The Karanga Leather Industries Company Limited (KLICL) intends to hire qualified,
energetic, dynamic and proactive Tanzanians to fill the following positions in the
organization structure.

POSITION: SALES MANAGER (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Business Administration – Marketing, or other related field with at least 5 years of working experience in
Sales areas with ability to keep deadlines and keen attention to work independently and be self-motivated with good communication and public speaking skills.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To deliver the existing business development strategy to target new clients to the Company;
ii. To identify and establish potential new sales opportunities for all Company products and respond positively to such opportunities;
iii. To ensure a full understanding of the Company sales budget for the year in order to drive business forward;
iv. Complete sales monthly and quarterly reports;
v. Maximize all sales opportunities through research of accounts and upselling techniques;
vi. To conduct research and development of new business from market
segments to Company corporate, commercial and business;
vii. Provide support, if needed, within the Sales and Marketing Department
to maximize sales and limit any loss of opportunity;
viii. Support the implementation and monitoring of all company marketing
initiatives;
ix. Contribute to the implementation of the annual sales and marketing
strategy;
x. To accurately record all customer enquiries and orders, maintaining sales
files and records.
xi. To maintain and adhere to Company policies and standards at all times;
xii. To carry out any reasonable task as assigned by Supervisor.


JOB POSITION: MANUFACTURING SERVICES MANAGER (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Materials Management or Procurement and Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, from a recognized Higher Learning Institutions. Knowledge in manufacturing industry
is mandatory. 7 years’ experience in planning, logistics, purchasing and inventory functions as well as General Management in a large manufacturing organization

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Lead, develop and motivate his department team members to successfully achieve business objectives as well as ensure that appropriate materials handling procedures and methodologies are applied by the team in accordance with good materials management practices.
ii. Ensures effective operation of purchase contracts, imports and exports customs regulations, environmental storage of inventories, flow of
documents to KLICL finance, Government customs department, is in line with Tanzania customs and tax regulations, company polices, sales objectives and guidelines, within operating constraints.
iii. Maintains strong integration with manufacturing to improve product costs, provide continuity of supply of raw materials and run ability of
materials on equipment, in line with agreed sales and manufacturing plans.
iv. Maintains strong integration with the Finance function to ensure effective
flow of documents to achieve accurate and timely payment of suppliers, accurate booking of costs, and effective reconciliation of expenditure and inventory levels.
v. Manages technical changes to raw materials for new product introductions, product modifications, specification changes, manufacturing equipment or process modifications, etc.

vi. Ensures that all inventories are properly received, warehoused, protected
and issued as and when required and that are effectively managed and accounted for through stock control systems and proper procedures and processes.
vii. To perform any other tasks given by the Supervisor


POSITION: PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLIES MANAGER (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Materials Management or Procurement and Logistics Management or Supply Chain Management from a recognized Higher Learning Institutions. The candidate must be registered by the
Procurement and Supplies Professional and Technician Board (PSPTB); a holder of CPSP with at least 5 years’ work experience in a relevant field.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Manages the day-to-day operations of the procurement process;
ii. Demonstrates strong leadership and managerial competencies, including integrity, accountability, communication skills and
commitment to teamwork and excellence in responsibilities such as selecting, mentoring, coaching, supervising, motivating and training procurement staff;
iii. Provides high-level technical/administrative guidance on work requirements and methods;
iv. Manage and reviews documents for the procurement of all supplies, equipment and services for the Authority and ensures compliance the Procurement Policy and Procedures Manual, as well as applicable state laws;
v. Establishes bid standards and prepares procurement documents to publicly solicit bids and contracts for the purchase and /or lease of materials and services;
vi. Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures;
vii. Identify opportunities for cost savings;
viii. Assures suppliers deliver materials and services in accordance with
standards of price, time, quantity and quality agreed upon;
ix. Assures all invoices are audited for compliance with contract terms and supervises contract closeout;
x. Responsible for ensuring records are maintained and procurements are
documented from origination through completion.
xi. Provides procurement research, guidance and direction by presenting
available procurement options;
xii. To perform any other tasks given by the Supervisor


POSITION: LOGISTICS, CLEARANCE AND TRANSPORT MANAGER
(1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Transport and Logistics Management (NTA Level
8) or, shipping or related field from a recognized higher learning Institution
with at least 5 years managerial experience in Customs and Logistics,
competence in the use of MS Office and Understanding of TRA systems
(Asyscan, ASCUDA and Cargo Tracking).

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Initiate, plan, develop and implement strategies for the improvement of
the customs and logistics.
ii. Lead, develop and motivate section team members to successfully
achieve business objectives.
iii. Allocation/Distribution of customs clearing documents to clearing agents
and Coordination of clearing process and goods delivery from port(s) of
discharge to KLICL and other destinations as requested by user (s).
iv. Liaison and follow up with shipping lines and other stakeholders for
speedy delivery of imported materials, timely clearance of all imports,
effective management of the bonded warehouse, communicated with
bond officer (s), export customs and logistics operations.
v. Manage the entire process of purchase of skin and hides
vi. Compute, review and process duties and taxes to be paid while ensuring
proper HC codes are always applied by clearing agents.
vii. Ensure the availability of customs clearance and customer shipments
records and maintain all documentation in a manner which is easily
retrievable, in line with KLICL internal policies and procedure as well as
Tax Authority regulations.
viii. Accurately capture of all relevant data in the Customer Service and
Customs Clearance Database while ensuring proper filling system is maintained.
ix. Track and update import/export goods shipping instructions as may
change from time to time.
x. Provide guidelines on customs requirements or any updates to
department wishing to import/export goods and ensure compliance
before order implementation.
xi. Work closely with other sections such as procurement, sales and
marketing, planning and internal / external stakeholders to monitor all
cost factors related to port demurrage & storage costs, clearing duration,
shipping delays and other delays in the process so as to ensure a cost
effective section.
xii. To perform any other tasks given by the Supervisor


POSITION: LOGISTICS AND CLEARANCE SUPERVISOR (4 Positions)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Transport and Logistics Management (NTA Level
8) or, shipping or related field from a recognized higher learning Institution with
not less than two (2) years’ work experience in a relevant field.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Ensure that goods including skin and hides are purchased shipped and
delivered in a timely manner and that inventory levels are sufficiently
maintained.
ii. Oversee the transportation of products from one location to another, such
as from loading docks to warehouses or warehouses to stores.
iii. Arrange product pickups and deliveries with transportation companies and
route drivers accordingly.
iv. Conduct cost analysis of several transportation companies in order to
select one that is cost-efficient and able to deliver products on time.
v. Build and Maintain good relationships with Vendors by ensuring that all
parties are working together
vi. Prepare accurate reports weekly, monthly and quarterly for submission to
the Management
vii. Work closely with other sections such as procurement, sales and
marketing, planning and internal / external stakeholders to monitor all
cost factors related to port demurrage & storage costs, clearing duration,
shipping delays and other delays in the process so as to ensure a cost

POSITION: MATERIALS AND PRODUCTION PLANNING ASSISTANT
(APO) (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Degree in material planning, finance of any other related field with at least 3
years working experience as a planner in manufacturing industry

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Manages Advanced Planning Optimizer department including
implementing technical changes to raw materials for new product
introductions, product modifications, specification changes,
manufacturing equipment or process modifications, etc. Achieves stated
goals and objectives relative to the factory performance and as defined
within Manufacturing Department
ii. Develops and implements both long and short-term production plans,
ensuring that factory output will meet Marketing and Sales strategies and
goals. Coordinates on monthly basis meetings between GSC and Markets
(Domestic and Export) Management in order to align on Sales vs Production required plans.
iii. Plans and schedules factory production activity in consideration to sales forecasts, market trends, materials availability, factory production
constraints, so as to result in optimized efficiency and balanced inventories..
iv. Monitors MRP performance and compares with set usages within SAP in
order to propose a more realistic shop floor usage. Ensures obsolete
items are not part of the working material list for Inventory Management
purposes..
v. Ensures Materials Requirement Plan is in line with the current lead times
applicable in this region, volume growth within the Markets of interest,
regulation changes affecting business in order to avoid out of stock
situation, while assuring a balanced target inventory level in both raw
materials and FG.
vi. Coordinates and aligns efforts in the following sections: Inventory
Management, PPO and Customs clearance to ensure timely arrival in the
factory of raw materials and other production related items in order to
realize the required brand(s) production on the shop floor.
vii. Lead, develop and motivate his department team members to
successfully achieve business objectives as well as ensure that appropriate procedures and methodologies are put in place and applied
by the team accordingly to effectively deliver the intended results
viii. To perform any other tasks given by the Supervisor


POSITION: HUMAN CAPITAL AND ADMINISTRATION
MANAGER (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor or Masters in Human Resources Management, Public Administration
from a recognized higher learning institution with at least 7 years working
experience. Knowledge and experience in employment law in Tanzania,
compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization
development, employee relations, and employee engagement. Someone who
is sensitive to and understands organisational culture as well as have the
ability to understand and be sensitive to different backgrounds of employees
and overall company culture.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIE
i. Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management and
to remain well skilled in all applicable employment laws.
ii. Responsible for updating any and all Company Policies as the laws
changes, for situations where the change in the law would cause our
current policy to be in non-compliance with the law (both internationally
and locally).
iii. Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
iv. Maintaining efficient and effective resource planning at every stage of
the process and in line with our policy as well as ensure compliance with
necessary governmental policy.
v. Point person for the recruitment, selection and onboarding process
vi. Creating and revising job descriptions as applicable
vii. Maintains historical human resource records by implementing the filing
and retrieval system that works both physically and virtually; keeping
past and current records.
viii. Establishes an in-house employee training system that addresses
company training need including training needs assessment,
management development and measurement of training impact
ix. Provide advice on conflict management and act as the chairman of any
conflict resolution meetings/disciplinary hearings (unless personally
involved).
x. Leads the implementation of the performance management system that
includes performance development plans (PDPs) and employee
development programs
xi. Responsible for keeping accurate and current records of employee
attendance, leave schedule and balances
xii. Providing Administrative support not limited to ensuring that office
utilities are paid on time, inventory and security services are maintained,
service and repair of various Company assets are checked, etc;
xiii. Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


POSITION: MAINTENANCE & SERVICE ENGINEER (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical) with at
least 3 years’ experience in field of machine maintenance, workshop, spare
parts, other utility and machinery resources.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Manage maintenance and services of all factory machineries and
buildings, ensure all maintenance programs for the machineries,
buildings and utilities are followed and implemented as per plan in order to maximize efficiency, reduce cost while protecting company’s assets.
ii. Demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to Quality Management System (QMS).
iii. Responsible to initiate/support execution of plant wide energy savings
programs and minimizing environmental impacts on land, air and water.
iv. Responsible for the operation of factory workshop for repair and
manufacturing service with optimum quality, shortest time and optimum cost.
v. Understand EHS hazards and risks relevant to department. Ensure that
appropriate control measures are known and implemented in order to
maintain a healthy and safe workplace for employees within the
department. Ensure that EHS methods are developed and all employees
receive appropriate EHS training.

vi. To perform any other tasks given by the Supervisor.


POSITION: MAINTENANCE & SERVICE SPECIALISTS (5 Positions)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Engineering with at least 2 years’ experience
in field of machine maintenance, workshop, spare parts, other utility and
machinery resources.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Assisting in managing maintenance and services of all factory
machineries and buildings,
ii. Ensure all maintenance programs for the machineries, buildings and
utilities are followed and implemented as per plan in order to maximize
efficiency, reduce cost while protecting company’s assets.
iii. Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs as reported
from time to time by ensuring that there is continuous cover of the
machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns
iv. Maintaining tools and test equipment and ensuring they are properly
calibrated.
v. Responsible for the operation of factory workshop for repair and manufacturing service with optimum quality, shortest time and optimum cost.
vi. Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and
proper follow-up
vii. To perform any other tasks given by the Supervisor.


POSITION: UTILITIES SUPERVISOR (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Engineering (mechanical/electrical) or its
equivalent with at least 3 years’ experience in utilities management

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Ensure availability of all utilities equipment on daily basis by
monitoring and analyzing operational data.
ii. Prepare execution plan for both preventive and corrective
maintenance for building and utilities and prepare report after execution.
iii. Monitor and analyze building and facilities performance in order to
identify areas of improvement and develop alternative solutions.
iv. Monitor all KPIs associated with utility and produce monthly reports
including EHS reports. Ensure collection of energy data, analysis and
advise improvement to optimize energy usage.
v. Supervise the manpower, plan related duties and propose training
/skills requirement to improve performance of the team.
vi. Develop optimal maintenance programs for building and utility, in
order to maximize efficiency and reduce cost, while protecting the
company’s assets.
vii. Identify and implement global initiatives and best practices to ensure
performance improvement and consistency.
viii. To perform any other tasks given by the direct Manager.


POSITION: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (2 Positions)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Holder of Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least two years
working experience in manufacturing industries especially in textiles, shoes
or other leather products industry

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Support production by being available to maintain a machine in case of
any breakdown, out of setting or major operation fault;
ii. Complete maintenance routine and status report of the machine as per
Standard Operating Procedure and maintenance schedule. Deviations
must be identified, reported and acted as per agreed schedule. Clean
machine and its surrounding before maintenance as per agreed work
instructions and procedures;
iii. Complete technical repairs of machines as per agreed job requests and
schedules. Identify risks and documenting as per agreed reporting
format and time;
iv. Reviewing and reporting machine breakdowns, rational and
recommended action plans as per shift hand over routines and work schedules;
v. Solve quality problems that impact production runs;

vi. Audit machine for cleanliness and report at end of each shift by analyzing breakdown trends and history, identifying risks and
reporting within agreed format;
vii. Use DO, THINK, ACT, IMPLEMENT approach when working in the machine to resolve problems in the shortest time possible;
viii. Any other duties as requested by the supervisor.


POSITION: ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN (2 Positions)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Diploma in electrical Engineering with at least two years’
experience in the field of maintenance, troubleshooting/fault finding in a
wide variety of electrical equipment.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Monitor electrical machine performance by implementing agreed work
instructions and routines as per company policy and procedures,
operating manuals and guidelines. This includes but is not limited to spare parts handover and replacement, compiling shift reports on problems identified, solved and unresolved;
ii. Review and report on machine performance highlighting breakdown and recommended action plans as per agreed shift handover routines
and work schedule. Complete technical repairs of machines as per agreed job requests and schedules. Identify risks and documenting as
per agreed reporting format and time;
iii. Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of all
electrical related equipment including but not limited to motors, fans,
solenoid valves, drivers, controllers, HMI devices, contactors, sensors,
circuit breakers, LV/HV switchboards and any associated power and
control wiring and cables, as per work schedules and routines Solve
quality problems that impact production runs. (Do think act at your
level);
iv. Clean Electrical components in all machines regularly as agreed.
This includes cleaning machine panels,, electrical switch gear; AVRs
and other machine components as per agreed work schedule;
v. Resolve minor breakdowns, offering support on the design of minor
parts, and carry out modifications as approved. Record/ Report minor
breakdown as per agree format and period;
vi. Any other duties reasonably requested by Supervisor.


POSITION: QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND ASSURANCE SPECIALIST
(2 Positions)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor Degree preferably in BSc Engineering, Physics,
Chemistry, Biology, or Food Science with at least 3 years working
experience as a Quality improvement and assurance specialist in a
manufacturing industry

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Ensure quality assurance policies and procedures are adhered by
Interpreting and complying with quality assurance standards
ii. Plan, perform and oversee inspection and testing of products to ensure
the quality deliverable
iii. Document quality assurance activities, such as internal audits by
analyzing customer grievances and other non-compliance issues
iv. Develop analysis and reporting tools for product quality data to assist
with planning of corrective and preventive actions.
v. Monitor to ensure that the quality targets, product quality and process
capability are achieved and lead the corrective and preventive actions
where appropriate under Quality Manager Supervision;
vi. Ensure proper operation and utilization of Quality system and other QC
instruments during production as well as reporting to Technical support
of any deviances from operational targets;
vii. Responsible for all quality assurance standards, it includes formulation,
updating and its implementation;
viii. Investigate source of non-conformities in line with QUIP
procedure/Work instructions and Quality Manual to minimize nonconforming product in the market;
ix. Perform any other tasks given by the direct supervisor.


POSITION: MACHINE OPERATOR (51 Positions)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of Form Four certificate at least with three D pass with a certificate
in shoes or leather articles making , VETA certificate or other related
certificate with working experience in shoes, textile or other leather articles
making industry is added advantage.

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. Operate the machine as per machine supplier operating manual, agreed
Service Operating guidelines, operational and quality guidelines. Follow
work instructions- implement DO, THINK, CHECK and ACT at your level,
record down time as required;
ii. Monitor quality of product by conducting quality checks during machine
operation as per Quality Plan and agree quality check guidelines.
Monitor product quality: -Once machine begins operation; check visual
and physical quality parameters after every 30 minutes, deviations must
be identified, reported and acted on within agreed time;
iii. Complete shift handover process with outgoing and incoming operator,
the handover report should contain information such as production
volume, machine problems, machine cleanliness, brand change o
material change if any and must be complied accurately as per work
instructions and procedures;
iv. Clean machine and its surrounding before and after operating the
machine as per agreed work instructions and procedures;
v. Verify materials supplied against Production order by checking
Production Order and verifying it against actual materials supplied in
machine. Complete a shift/Brand change over checklist and report to
your supervisor any deviation of material observed during verification as
per agreed format;
vi. Maintain safety at work as per KLICL safety guidelines and
requirements;
vii. Complete sorting of produced shoes and other leather articles, identify
cause of rejects (if any) and report to your supervisor;
viii. Any other duties reasonably requested by the supervisor.


POSITION: RECORDS MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT (1 Position)

a) QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Holder of good National Form Six/Four Certificate with a diploma in Records
Management with at least 3 year working experience. Must be computer
literate

b) MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
i. To record letters in the inward and outward registers;
ii. To sort index and file letters in the appropriate files;
iii. To record and maintain the file movements in the transit cards or in
the file movement registers;
iv. To maintain the postage imprest registers;
v. Keep and maintain files in good order;
vi. To make sure that confidential information do not leak at all;
vii. Retrieving files in response to request from staff;
viii. Keeps and maintain Archives according to standard procedures;
ix. Maintain records for the books/materials borrow service;
x. Respond to daily on-site requests for information needs from users;
xi. To carry out any other lawful work related duties as assigned by supervisor.
