Consultancy work for Connect Barrier and Facilitator analysis

Background
Save the children has been operational in Tanzania since 1986 providing development and humanitarian relief programs to children in support of the government of Tanzania priorities and policies both directly and through local partners. Current programs focus on child protection child rights governance, education nutrition, health and emergency response with current operational presence in Kibondo, Zanzibar, Mbozi, Dodoma, RUKWA, Iringa, Morogoro and Shinyanga

In September 2019, bill and Melinda gates Foundation awarded the connecting first line parents to conreceptive services though diverse platforms connect project to save the children connects aims to increase the use of postpartum family planning among first line parents ages 15 – 25 by layering and additional activity onto large scale health and nutrition initiatives that already reach FTPs. In Tanzania connected will partners with USAID lishe Endelevu nutrition project. The project will development, test scale and evaluate a program enhancement – a modification to existing activities that leverages the projects reach to better meet the needs of FTPs

To inform the design of program enhancement, connect will conduct a barrier and facilitator analysis that explorers FTPs touch points with the system and factors that shape first time parents (use and non-use of essential health and family planning services through the pregnancy and postpartum periods

Desired Skills and

  • Strong English skills both written and oral
  • At least 10 years’ experience with qualitative data collection including the use of participatory approaches
  • At least 10 years’ experience in conducting research in health care setting with young adult adolescence related to maternal/newborn health and family planning
  • Ability to collect data electronically including loading questionnaires into tablets/smart phones
