CALL FOR PROPOSAL FEBRUARY 2020

ON PROMOTION OF WOMEN, GIRLS AND CHILDREN RIGHTS THROUGH IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT TO NPA EVAWC IN SHINYANGA DISTRICT COUNCIL

Women Fund Tanzania-Trust (WFT-Trust) is a grant making women’s rights fund that was registered in September 2008 and transformed into a Trustee in September 2019. The Fund focuses on supporting initiatives that are working towards promoting women, girls and children rights for empowerment and contributing towards growth of a strengthened women’s and children’s rights movement in the country. Under this call, for proposal WFT will sub-grant to eligible key stakeholders and implementers of EVAWC interventions under the NPA VAWC framework in Shinyanga Pilot District Council to achieve an envisioned mobilised, coordinated, collaborative, inclusive and impactful NPA VAWC implementation outcomes in a systemic approach to violence prevention in the District.

Eligible applicants can submit their applications for funding for initiatives implemented within local government EVAWC structures, community-based interventions and in response to other emerging needs in addressing EVAWC related situations. Grant funds can also be applied under this call for processes within NPA VAWC implementation interventions from NPA VAWC framework. Such interventions could be aimed at increasing ownership and capacities of the Local Government Authorities actors and others (such as Community Based Organizations, Non-Governmental Organisations, communities and invested stakeholders) for promoting more effective mechanisms that ensure participation of communities in the implementation structures of the National Plan of Action.
WFT expect the grant to address interventions based on the following:

• To address community issues related to NPA VAWC as well as to ensure strong link between the problem to be addressed and the strategies, measurable results anticipated from the project
• Demonstrate sustainability, innovativeness, replicability and potential to prove models that can be taken to larger scale
• To reflect effort towards building partnership between children’s and women’s rights organizations in different sectors of the movement with the purpose of forming/ strengthening functional networks, coalitions and platforms
• Increase ownership and capacities of NPA VAWC processes and structures within Shinyanga District Council.
• To promote strategies towards strengthening building women and children movement.
WFT expect the grant to address interventions based on the following:
• Community based Organizations/ Groups with legal entities operating within Shinyanga District council
• Community based Organizations/ Groups with track record of implementing interventions within NPA VAWC framework in Shinyanga district Council
• Community based Organizations/ Groups who share our aspiration of contributing towards elimination of discriminatory gender inequalities’ practices and processes through ending violence against women and children, and whose work fits within our identified thematical areas.
• Other legal entities with a mandate to support and/or oversee NPA VAWC implementation within Shinyanga District Council

GRANT WINDOWS:

  1. SMALL SCALE WINDOW (TSH 10,000,000 – TSH15,000,000)
    • Duration (0 – 3 months)
    • Eligibility – Under this window organizations/institutions implementing and support intervention within NPAVAWC are qualifying to apply for the grant for short term interventions.
  2. MEDIUM SCALE FUNDING WINDOW (TSH 16,000,000 – 50,000,000)
    • Duration (6 months to 1 year)
    • Eligibility – Under this window organizations implementing and support intervention within NPAVAWC are qualifying to apply for the grant for medium term interventions.

More Specific Requirements:
Application for these Grants will follow this process:

  1. Submission of a Concept Note (5-7 pages max) describing the proposed idea or initiative.
  2. Concept note submitted should have the following attachments: –
    • Copy of registration
    • Organizational constitution
    • Most recent Bank statement
