1.0 MZUMBE UNIVERSITY(MU)


Mzumbe University was established by the Mzumbe University Charter, 2007 under
Section 25 of the Universities Act. No. 7 of 2005 which repealed Mzumbe University Act
No 9 of 2001. As a Training Institute, the University boasts of over 50 years experience
of training in the Administration of Justice, Business Management, Public Administration,
Accountancy, Finance, Political Science and Good Governance.

1.0.1 ASSISTANT LECTURERECONOMICS1 POST

1.0.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Undergo an induction course in pedagogical skills for those who have not
acquired them;

ii. Carry out lectures; conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for
undergraduate programmes;

iii. Prepare and present case studies;

iv. Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;

v. Participate/contribute in curriculum development;

vi. Recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support;

vii. Guide students in various academic issues;

viii. Participate in consultancies and community services;

ix. Supervise field practicals and undergraduate projects;

x. Attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and

xi. Perform any other duties that may assigned by the supervisor.


1.0.3 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Master’s Degree in Economics with at least a GPA of 4.0. In addition, the
candidate must have a minimum GPA of 3.8 in first degree and assessed as potentially
good academically. The applicant should have a consistent career progression in his/her
relevant area of specialization from Bachelor to Master’s Degree.

1.0.5 ARTISAN IIMOTOR VEHICLE MECHANICS1 POST

1.0.6 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Performs more challenging machinery jobs under close supervision,

ii. Collects and takes care of tools and equipment,

iii. Perform routine technical cleaning of the workshop environments

iv. Carriesout minor repairs and maintenance of motor vehicles in the workshop
and reports all other problems to superiors,

v. Perform any other duties that may assigned by the supervisor.


1.0.7 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Holder of Form IV Certificate plus Trade Test Grade I from a recognized Institution

2.0 THE OPEN UNIVERSITY OF TANZANIA (OUT)

The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) is a public university, established by the Act of
Parliament No 17 of 1992. Since 1st January, 2007, the University has been operating
under the OUT Charter Inc. of 2007, which is in line with the Universities Act No. 7 of
2005. Its stated mission is

open online education, research and services to the community for social economic

development of Tanzania and the rest of the world.

i. Teach face to face sessions and lead seminars;

ii. Undertake induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before

iii. Undertake individual research and participate in bigger multidisciplinary
research projects;

iv. Prepare manuals and case studies for training;

v. Offer close supervision and guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate
students;

vi. Manage undergraduate programmes

vii. Undertake consultancy projects.

2.0.3 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of PhD, Master degree in relevant fields with at least a GPA of 4.0 out of 5,
and a minimum GPA of 3.8 out of 5 or its equivalent in the first degree with minimum
score of B+ in relevant subjects or its equivalent. The applicant must be computer literate,
capable of using ICT to enhance teaching and learning.

i. Write new study materials, scripts for radio broadcast, video and audio cassettes,
various reports and papers,

ii. Adopt and/or supplement existing materials,

iii. Liaise with course writers, editors, reviewers, producers, artists, coordinators and
other members of the course team,

iv. Revise course materials and audio programmes,

v. Give public lectures, tutor and lead academic discussions,

vi. Set and mark course assignments and/or tests, examinations supervision of field
work, practical and all other related academic activities,

vii. Encourage and motivate students to improve academically,

viii. Help identify and set up local study groups,

ix. Conduct research work and disseminate research findings
