POSITION TITLE: Private Sector Liaison
LOCATION: Tanzania
DEPARTMENT: Civil Society & Education
REPORTS TO: Project Director

Position Summary:
The Private Sector Liaison will be responsible for supporting and overseeing the technical quality and delivery of our results-oriented program activities that engage the community, private sector and government aimed at improving economic participation by women and girls vulnerable to child labor, forced labor, and/or other violations of labor rights within a supply chain; and improving business practices by private sector actors to protect against child labor, forced labor, and other violations of labor rights for vulnerable women and girls working within a supply chain in Tanzania. Position is contingent upon receipt of donor funding.

The Private Sector Liaison will be responsible for developing a strategy and overseeing program activities that aim to engage the private sector and government to promote collaboration to increase acceptable work and economic opportunities vulnerable women. The Private Sector Liaison will work closely with Winrock International's staff to ensure that project activity deadlines are met and targets are achieved; coordinate and maintain working relationships with project stakeholders, particularly the government and private sector; and lead collaborative initiatives with private companies.
• Provide support to Winrock staff, government, private sector to promote collaboration leading to increased acceptable work and economic opportunities for adolescent girls and vulnerable women;
• Provide support to the government, private sector, worker representatives, and civil society to increase engagement and collaboration on addressing child labor and promoting gender equality in employment practices;
• Work with Winrock staff to develop strategies to create and/or strengthen public/private partnerships that strengthen networks for female entrepreneurs;
• Assist Winrock staff in the development of technical reports for the US Department of Labor or others in line with the project's communication strategy;
• Other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will have strong technical and relevant experience engaging private sector partners on corporate social responsibility and empowerment programs, preferably in Tanzania. Specific experience and familiarity with agricultural value chains, labor conditions and workforce development is strongly desired. Familiarity with gender considerations and specific opportunities for women and girls in agriculture value chains is preferred, specifically in the Kilimanjaro and Mbeya regions. Fluency in English and Swahili is required.
Education: Bachelor's level degree preferred in international development, economic development, education, gender policy/empowerment, or a relevant social science discipline. Master's level degree would be an asset.
Technical: Minimum of three years of professional experience in the area of corporate social responsibility or private sector supply chain social compliance programs.
Experience in, and knowledge of women, child rights, child labor issues, and Tanzania laws and international conventions governing woman and children's issues is preferred.
Experience in the East Africa region is required, and Tanzania strongly preferred.

• Ability to maintain working relationships with all project stakeholders, including coalition building and partnership promotion.
• Ability to analyze supply chain, identify entry points for programmatic interventions, and engage key private sector actors.
• Understanding of key labor issues, including child labor, forced labor, gender discrimination, and workplace exploitation.
• Ability to meet deadlines, achieve targets, and provide all required inputs to deliverables.
• Knowledge or understanding of social, economic, and political context governing youth, education, and workforce readiness policy issues in developing countries, particularly in Tanzania.
• Strong knowledge in private sector and government engagement in development programs
• Knowledge of US Government regulations, policies, and procedures or those of an equivalently complex international government funding organization.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, creative problem solving, conflict, and ethical management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software (Microsoft).
• Fluency in English and Swahili is required.
